Part of PAV's commitment involves advocating for the following:

  • Strengthening families to reduce impact of domestic violence.

  • Raising awareness of the issue of domestic violence and mentor people on how to address it.

  • Establishing safe houses for people fleeing domestic/family violence.

  • Insisting on a review into the justice and criminal system.

  • Supporting additional funding and resources to go to the Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) so that Aboriginal people are better represented and understand relevant processes.

  • Introducing intervention/diversion programs for offenders, rather than imprisonment.

  • Reviewing the drug and alcohol service and programs; introduce alternatives to imprisonment.

  • Providing more accessible driving programs to reduce level of driving/traffic-related offences, fines, and incarceration for non-payment.
